I studied music at Indiana University, had a career in finance and accounting but, in 2008 found my passion in photography. At that time I was traveling extensively and wanted to improve my photographic skills. To hone my skills I took several classes and attended workshops. Photography has added a new dimension to my travels and gives me an expanded view of the places I visit. I can see details in architecture that I missed before, see how light can affect the mood, and I've discovered patterns in nature that I had previously overlooked. Ironically, in my effort to improve my travel photography, I also gained an appreciation for the beauty in my own backyard.
My grandmother was a painter, my grandfather a poet, and my mother was an actress, so the arts were always an important part of my life. To me, photography is an art form and I hope that comes through with my work. Not only do I want to show an image of what I have photographed, I would like that image to convey what I was feeling at the time of the capture.
